Learner Terms and Policies

Last Updated: September 30, 2026

These Learner Terms and Policies (“Terms”) apply to courses, workshops, microcredentials, training programs and other learning products and services offered by Sustainable Impact Inc. (“SI₂”, “we”, “us” or “our”) through our website, Learning Management System (“LMS”), online registration system or other digital learning platforms.

These Terms include SI₂’s Terms of Purchase, Refund and Cancellation Policy, and Privacy Policy.

By completing a registration or purchase, you acknowledge that you have reviewed and agree to the applicable Terms of Purchase and Refund and Cancellation Policy and acknowledge the Privacy Policy.

Part A: Terms of Purchase | Part B: Refund and Cancellation Policy | Part C: Privacy Policy | Part D: General Terms

Part A: Terms of Purchase

1. Registration

Registration is confirmed when payment has been successfully processed or, where applicable, SI₂ has approved an alternative payment arrangement. Learners are responsible for ensuring that information provided during registration is accurate and complete.

Course descriptions, fees, schedules, delivery methods, prerequisites, technology requirements, course access periods and other applicable conditions will be provided on the relevant course or registration page.

2. Fees and Payment

Unless otherwise stated:

  • all fees are stated in Canadian dollars
  • applicable taxes will be added where required
  • payment is due at the time of registration
  • access to a course may be withheld until payment has been received

Where an employer, government agency or other organization purchases training on behalf of a Learner, additional contractual terms between SI₂ and that organization may apply. Where those terms conflict with these Terms, the separately executed agreement will govern to the extent of the conflict.

3. Online Course Access

For online courses, access will be provided through the SI₂ LMS or another platform identified during registration.

Course access periods may vary. The applicable access period will be identified in the course description, registration information or registration confirmation. Course registrations and LMS accounts are intended for the registered Learner’s individual use unless SI₂ expressly authorizes otherwise. Learners may not share, transfer, sell or provide their login credentials or course access to another individual.

4. Learner Responsibilities

Learners are responsible for:

  • maintaining access to a suitable computer or device and reliable internet connection
  • meeting stated technical or course prerequisites
  • maintaining the confidentiality and security of their account credentials
  • completing required learning activities and assessments
  • complying with academic integrity and learner conduct requirements
  • using SI₂ course materials only for permitted educational purposes

SI₂ is not responsible for a Learner’s inability to participate due to equipment, software, connectivity or other technical issues outside SI₂’s reasonable control.

5. Intellectual Property and Course Materials

Unless otherwise stated, course materials provided by SI₂, including videos, presentations, templates, exercises, assessments, graphics, written materials, tools and other educational content, are owned by or licensed to SI₂ and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Registration provides the Learner with a limited, personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use course materials for their own learning and professional development. Unless written permission has been provided by SI₂, course materials may not be:

  • reproduced or copied for distribution
  • shared with individuals who are not registered Learners
  • published or uploaded to another platform
  • sold or licensed
  • recorded or redistributed
  • incorporated into another commercial training program, course or product

6. Certificates and Microcredentials

Where a course offers a certificate, digital badge, microcredential or other recognition of completion, the Learner must satisfy the completion requirements established for that course. Registration or payment does not guarantee successful completion or receipt of a credential. SI₂ may withhold a credential where required course components have not been successfully completed or where there has been a violation of academic integrity requirements.

7. Course Changes

SI₂ may make reasonable changes to course schedules, instructors, delivery methods, learning activities or course materials where necessary. Where a material change significantly affects a Learner’s ability to participate, SI₂ will make reasonable efforts to provide an appropriate alternative.

8. Educational Purpose

SI₂ courses and programs are intended to provide non-vocational education, skills development and professional development. Unless expressly stated otherwise, completion of an SI₂ course does not guarantee:

  • employment or promotion
  • professional certification or licensing
  • admission to another educational institution or program
  • regulatory approval
  • business or financial results
  • recognition by a particular employer, professional association or regulatory body

Learners are responsible for determining whether a particular SI₂ course meets the requirements of an employer, professional association, educational institution, regulator or other third party.

9. Learner Conduct

SI₂ is committed to providing a respectful, inclusive and professional learning environment. SI₂ may suspend or terminate course access where a Learner engages in serious misconduct, including harassment, academic dishonesty, unauthorized distribution of course materials, misuse of the LMS, attempts to compromise system security or conduct that materially interferes with other Learners or SI₂ operations.

Any refund entitlement following suspension or termination will be determined in accordance with the Refund and Cancellation Policy and applicable law.

10. Third-Party Platforms

SI₂ may use third-party service providers to support course registration, payment processing, course delivery, video conferencing, communications, credentials and other services. Use of certain third-party platforms may also be subject to the terms and privacy practices of those providers.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, SI₂ will not be responsible for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from participation in, or inability to access, an SI₂ course or program. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits a right or liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.

12. Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights or remedies available to a Learner under applicable consumer protection legislation. Where applicable legislation provides rights or remedies that are more favourable than these Terms, the applicable legislative requirements will prevail.

Part B: Refund and Cancellation Policy

13. General Refund Policy

SI₂ understands that circumstances may change after registration. Unless different cancellation terms are clearly identified for a particular course or program, an eligible Learner who cancels their registration in accordance with this policy will receive a full refund of the course registration fee, less a $25 administration fee. The $25 administration fee will not be charged where:

  • SI₂ cancels the course or program
  • SI₂ determines that a refund is required because of a material issue within SI₂’s control
  • applicable law requires the full amount to be refunded

14. Self-Paced Online Courses

A Learner may request cancellation within 14 calendar days of purchase, provided the Learner has not substantially accessed, downloaded or completed the course content.

An approved cancellation will receive a full refund of the course registration fee, less the $25 administration fee. Once a Learner has substantially accessed or completed course content, the registration fee is generally non-refundable because access to the digital learning product has been provided. SI₂ may consider exceptional circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

Registrations before a course is released. If you register for a self-paced online course before its content release date, you may cancel at any time before the release date, or within 14 calendar days after it, provided you have not substantially accessed, downloaded or completed the course content. An approved cancellation will receive a full refund of the course registration fee, less the $25 administration fee.

15. Instructor-Led Courses, Workshops and Cohort Programs

Unless different cancellation terms are stated on the registration page the Learner may cancel and receive a full refund of the registration fee, less the $25 administration fee up to 7 days before the beginning date of the course. Alternatively, the Learner may request a transfer to another available offering.

7 Calendar Days or Less Before the Program Begins

Registration fees are generally non-refundable. Where reasonably possible, SI₂ may allow the Learner to:

  • transfer to a future offering
  • receive a credit toward another SI₂ course or program

After the Program Has Begun

Registration fees are non-refundable after the program has begun. Exceptional circumstances may be considered by SI₂ on a case-by-case basis.

16. Transfers and Substitutions

Where appropriate, SI₂ may permit:

  • transfer to another available course or cohort
  • application of the amount paid as a credit toward another SI₂ course

Requests should be submitted before the applicable course begins. Unless otherwise specified, credits must be used within 12 months of the date issued and cannot be redeemed for cash.

17. Cancellation or Rescheduling by SI₂

SI₂ reserves the right to cancel, postpone or reschedule a course due to insufficient registration, instructor availability, emergencies or circumstances beyond SI₂’s reasonable control.

If SI₂ cancels a course and cannot provide a reasonable alternative, Learners will be offered the choice of:

  • transferring to another scheduled offering
  • transferring to another SI₂ course of equivalent value
  • receiving a credit toward a future SI₂ course
  • receiving a full refund

18. Technical Issues

Learners experiencing difficulty accessing an online course should contact SI₂ promptly so that we can attempt to resolve the issue. Temporary technical problems, internet outages or device issues experienced by the Learner do not normally qualify for a refund. If a significant technical failure within SI₂’s control prevents access to purchased course content for an unreasonable period and SI₂ cannot provide an appropriate alternative, SI₂ may provide an extension, transfer, credit or refund as appropriate.

19. Course Bundles

Where courses are purchased as a discounted bundle, any approved partial refund may take into consideration courses already accessed or completed. SI₂ may calculate the value of courses already accessed using their regular individual course price before determining the remaining refundable amount.

20. Promotional and Discounted Registrations

Refunds for eligible discounted or promotional registrations will be calculated based on the amount actually paid by the Learner. Promotional codes and discounts have no cash value.

21. Employer-Sponsored and Contract Training

Where an employer, government agency or other organization purchases training for one or more Learners under a separate agreement with SI₂, the cancellation, substitution and refund provisions contained in that agreement will apply.

22. Requesting a Cancellation, Transfer or Refund

Requests should be submitted in writing to info@sustainable-impact.ca.

Please include:

  • Learner’s name
  • course or program name
  • registration or order number, if available
  • nature of the request

Approved refunds will normally be returned using the original method of payment.

Processing times may vary depending on the payment provider or financial institution.

Nothing in this Refund and Cancellation Policy limits cancellation, refund or other rights available under applicable consumer protection legislation.
